Dive year-round in Utah. Master buoyancy and gear management in cold-water conditions.
If you want to dive Utah's lakes through fall, winter, and early spring — or any cold-water destination at all — a dry suit is what makes that comfortable. Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit keeps you completely dry by sealing at the wrists and neck, with insulating undergarments doing the warmth.
This specialty teaches you how to put on, dive in, and maintain a dry suit safely. The big new skill is buoyancy: a dry suit becomes a second air-containing volume that you have to manage in coordination with your BCD. We cover dressing in, suit valves, recovering from feet-first ascents, leaks, and routine care.
The course is two days — one classroom + pool day, one open-water day at Seabase. Rental dry suits are included; if you'd like to try one before buying, this is the right course to take first.
